Just Like a Mother's Love.......

This clematis was given to me by my daughter, Ashley.  She knows how much I enjoy plants and flowers and actually shares that with me.  She probably has a greener thumb than I do!

When I received it we had an old deck on the back of the house with lattice on one side for a wall.  We thought it would be pretty to see it climbing up the lattice...... and it was for a number of years.  Then we removed the old deck and built a new one..... kind of in the same place but not exactly.  The clematis took a beating when the new deck was being built but it DID survive.  It didn't have anything to climb on but flourished in a mound on the ground.  John gets a little carried away with the weed whip at times and as luck would have it he whacked down the clematis.... not once but twice!  I thought it was done for sure.  Nope.  Several people tromp on it (not knowing how special that plant was to me).  Nope.  It still came back.  This beautiful flower was obviously determined to survive so I bought a tee pee-type trellis for it to climb.  It is happy now and outshining the other clematis by leaps and bounds.

Just like my love for Ashley, this plant keeps on growing and when I don't think it can get any greater it does.  A mother's love is a truly amazing and wonderful thing!  Ashley was married last year and is making her dreams come true.  I couldn't be happier.  It warms a mother's heart to see her babes flourish and be happy!

I love you Sweetie!  XOXOXOXO
